Deep within the mesmerizing rolling hills, resided a boy named Shepherd. His life was essentially pure, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was essentially to care for his herd of sheep.

Their gentle baas and the murmuring of the wind across the lone tree on the mountaintop were his only companions. Day after day, watching over his wards instilled in him a notion of quiet fulfillment.

However, there were occasional moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would long for company. In one such instance from sheer boredom, the shepherd boy conceived a naughty plan.

Tales of predators prowling on sheep had been around for a while in the town. So, the boy opted to exploit this fear and played a joke on the villagers.

One morning he raced into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is read more attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers rushed up the hills for rescue but saw nothing threatening.

The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This game laughed for a few more days. However, one morning, a real wolf did attack the herd. The shepherd boy ran for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his sheep. Devastated, he went back to the town only to be met with a lesson on honesty and the repercussions of false alarms.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the dangers of false alarms. Moreover, it emphasizes how trust once violated, is difficult to reclaim. It's a story as appropriate today as it was then.
